Celebrate International Women’s Day

On March 8, cities, countries, states, counties, and women’s groups will observe International Women’s Day. It is an international campaign that started in the early 1900s when Suffragettes began their fight to gain the right to vote. The first observance took place in 1911, and now, 107 years later, the theme of this year’s celebration is #PressforProgress. At Gordon Boswell, we believe that flowers are the ideal way to express sentiments. In this case, we encourage you to show your support and appreciation for the women in your lives, and for everything they do - whether it be at work, home, in friendship, a romantic relationship, or a business partnership. A Valentine’s Gift That’s A Cut Above The Rest

This Valentine's Day, get yourself some roses that go a step beyond the usual in both color and container, and jazz up February 14th for someone special. We tend to think of our romantic roses in one way only - a dozen long red stems rocketing from a simple vase - but there's so much more variety in the floral landscape than that. V-Day roses, like so many things, have become modernized, and we here at Gordon Boswell are right in line with that trend. Read More about A Valentine’s Gift That’s A Cut Above The Rest »

Flowers Inspired By Pantone’s Color Of The Year

When color experts Pantone announced their choice for Color of the Year, Ultra Violet, there was a bit of a collective gasp. What a rich, dark, arresting hue, people said. And one that conveys a lot of mystery and mysticism. Since the COY is meant to embody the spirit of the times, designers, florists and other creatives were left wondering, what does this color say about our culture right now? And where are we headed? Such deep questions about a color, and yet exactly the kinds that Pantone is trying to provoke. On the other hand, we here at Gordon Boswell are excited to work with it. The Flowers To Give Your Girls This Galentine’s Day

How much do you love your girlfriends? Well enough to have an entire day devoted to celebrating them? We at Gordon Boswell agree, and guess what? There's a day for that. The idea for Galentine's Day was first proposed in a 2010 episode of NBC's Parks and Recreation when main character Leslie Knope took all of her ladies out to a long lunch and gave them gifts the day before Valentine's Day. She called it "Galentine's," and the rest is history. Each year, more and more women are taking the chance to celebrate their friendships on February 13th. Getting Well With Flowers

If you have something special in mind for your ailing friend or loved one, look no further than flowers. A bright, bountiful bouquet is just the thing when someone is feeling more than the winter blues and needs a good dose of sunshine and cheer. Flowers, studies show, are major mood enhancers, and they also promote a positive outlook. Patients who have flowers or potted plants in their hospital rooms use less pain medication and have lower blood pressure than their flower-less counterparts. We here at Gordon Boswell have a rich collection of get well flowers designed to perk up anyone suffering during cold and flu season. Read More about Getting Well With Flowers »
